Our journals span science, health, humanities and social sciences, engineering, and sustainability. And we continue to expand into new academic disciplines so more researchers can publish open access.

Be part of the publishing revolution and help us transform the way research is published, evaluated, and communicated to the world.

The Role

Frontiers’ Institutional Partnerships team works with research institutions/libraries, consortia, and funders to improve the ways researchers are supported when publishing open access.

We are looking for a Market Intelligence Analyst to join the team to report into the Institutional Partnerships Development Manager. You will play a crucial role in expanding the Institutional Partnerships Program by providing strategic market research and competitor analysis and developing market intelligence reports and resources with a focus on collaborations between publishers and research institutions, consortia, and funders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of target lists for outreach to institutions, consortia, and funders
  • Provide country, funder and institute-specific bespoke datasets and insights
  • Conduct market research, research of institutional customer needs, gap analyses, and feasibility studies to analyse the viability of alternative or continued institutional business growth opportunities, including different business models
  • Work collaboratively with Institutional Partnerships Development Specialists, a Reporting Analyst, and analysts in the Business Intelligence department on a project basis
  • Query and analyse data from multiple internal and external data sources and create insightful summaries and visualisations
  • Communicate complex analysis clearly and concisely to a range of audiences including Institutional Partnerships sales and management colleagues
  • Support the development of institutional market intelligence dashboards for of-the-shelf use by colleagues and potential integration in other system
  • Support the assessment of and creation of guidelines for third-party resources such as Dimensions, Scopus, Web of Science, OpenAPC, and ESAC Registry

Requirements

  • Solid experience in market and competitive intelligence, OR understanding of the scholarly publishing industry and its market trends and drivers
  • Experience of developing, managing, and running data gathering and analytical projects
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to write reports, present results, and provide actionable insights
  • Experience of successfully delivering projects to deadlines
  • Expert user of Excel
  • Python, Tableau, and SQL skills (desirable) or basic Python and SQL skills with a willingness to advance
  • Experience with other BI tools and platforms to retrieve, manipulate, visualize, and analyse data
  • Able to work successfully as part of a team, working collaboratively to deliver results, and providing feedback and quality assurance as needed

Benefits

With more than 50 nationalities represented in our global team, you will work regularly with teammates in other countries, and with our community of researchers, editors, and authors from around the globe.

This includes:

100% remote working
